"Remember to drive safe" is a text that I get from my parents whenever I go anywhere. While it can be annoying to have some overbearing, I've always loved receiving texts like this as they show my parents care about me. And when it comes to driving, there needs to be a lot of care. For some as soon as 14 we are thrown into the driver seat of a thousand pound killing machine. And once we get on that road, there are going to be a lot of different people that we will encounter. You may encounter someone on the road who is sleepy, someone who is driving under the influence, someone on there way to an emergency, or maybe just some teen who's nervous on the road. There's a lot of different drivers on the road, which just means theres a lot of ways to get into an accident. And it can be anyones fault, including yourself. That is why we need proper education on the roads. A lot of accidents happen in the US, and a lot more of those lead to severe injury or even death. A lot of these are caused my simply human error or ignorance. These are issues that seem like will just be around forever and seem like risks that we are just going to have to accept when on the road. But I say not so. In order to combat the mistakes that we see on the roadways we must further educate our drivers. After all, Education is the best tool that we have to fight the mistakes that we see on our roadways. I know how nerve racking it can be to drive on a highway for the first time. I know myself that the first time I drove on a highway I almost cut someone off and got into an accident. The reason for this was simply because I was unprepared for the situation. It was my first time that I had ever passed someone, and like many others my first attempt was not exactly what you would call a success. I hadn't been properly educated on how to pass someone and that is why my first attempt went down as such a failure. In order for me to have succeeded then, and for future drivers after me, I needed to be properly trained and taught what to do. While in driver's ed, they had taught me how to pass through videos and the textbooks, but not while actually on the road. I can tell being on the road for the first time is a lot different than what you learn in textbooks and videos. All that I learned quickly went out the window as soon as I stepped in that thousand pound machine. Cars are a dangerous item and we need people with a full and cleared mind to operate them. One we add distractions through nerves like a first time driver, or a phone for some teenage driver, or some mind-altering substance for adult drivers bad things are going to happen. It's just a simple fact. There are a lot of conditions and events happening on a roadway, too much for a unexperienced or unclear mind to handle. That is why we need all drivers on the road to be of proper mind and to be properly educated. For when we get on the roadway not properly educated or not of proper mind is when accidents will occur. I love driving now, I often go out in the country roads listening to music to take my mind of things or to just simply have a good time. However, even I can recognize how this can be dangerous. While in the country, my mind is usually not occupied on driving. Usually i'm focused on singing along to the music in my car or talking with friends or family in the car along with me. This distraction can lead to dangerous opportunities. While I would like to say that nothing goes on in the country that is not true. There are several critters that at anytime could pop out onto the road way and give me a scare and result in a crash. But if I'm properly educated, even at times when I'm distracted, my chance of surviving or escaping this opportunity with minimal damage increases greatly. It's a simple fact, driving anywhere at anytime will always have the possibility of a crash, no matter how small that possibility is, we need to educate our drivers so they know how to deal with these emergencies and how to avoid them for that will give us the greatest chance at escaping potentially dangerous opportunities.
