Becoming a safer driver

What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving? To reduce the number of deaths (related to driving,) it would help to enforce stricter laws on the speed limit, as well as head checks. It would also serve to enforce stricter laws on drunk driving; ensuring that the legal drinking limit be reduced to a lower number, and heavier penalties enforced. From the standpoint of the government, it would help to invest more in public transportation. The importance of public transportation is that it not only reduces carbon emission, but that it clears up roadways due to more people taking public transportation. In effect, this would result in safer and less congested roads. If it could be possible on the car manufacturer’s end, it would help to create cars with slower acceleration, and from the driver’s side it would help to invest in electric cars with sensors to help them drive more effectively. The use of electric vehicles would be great as it helps to promote safer driving, with the vehicle’s sensors regulating the movement of the vehicle and creates any necessary adjustment to ensure protection of the passengers inside.
Have you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen your friends or family members driving irresponsibly? I have been in a few car accidents caused by other drivers. It was usually during snowstorms, when the driver behind us was much too close for the road conditions, and would rear end the family car. In regards to family members, there have been habits they created that do promote unsafe driving. The more common habits are preferring to slow down rather than come to a complete stop at stop signs, which is something they mainly do when they see no other cars approaching. Another is going at higher speeds on unsafe road conditions as well as going on higher speeds on the freeway. I’ve seen my family members operate vehicles with seat belts that do not work, or with airbags that have not been properly fixed as they were used cars that they bought.
What steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road? For me to become a better and safer driver, I can learn to become more courteous as a means of keeping myself and others safe. I should learn patience, learning to not turn left or right if it’s too close to a call between my vehicle and oncoming traffic. As well as head checks, I could do well with conducting two or more before turning to fully ensure there are no other vehicles behind me. Along with on road safety, I can practice safety off the road by being attentive to what I struggle to do on the road, and practice bettering it by either watching videos or practicing in empty parking lots. I would do well to keep maintenance of the vehicles I operate, by checking not only the distractions that may dwell within the vehicle, but as well as the overall wellbeing of the vehicle.
I should check for (not limited to) the engine lights that are turned on when I drive, how up to date my license plates are, and how bright my lights are so that I’m visible to the other drivers around me. I could also learn to become versatile in my driving, such as learning to operate a standard manual vehicle and an automatic vehicle should I ever need it. Cleanliness of the vehicle is also important, the inside of the car should be as clutter-free as possible, to eliminate any possible distractions, and the exterior as well.
