The importance of drivers ed to help reduce the number of deaths caused by driving is because many young drivers are dying because they are either distracted or they don’t follow the rules of the road correctly. Not only young drivers but older drivers are also not following the rules of the road correctly and they damage other people in the process of doing so. Some of these people do and don’t have their license but still take advantage of that when they are on the road. That’s why not only learning drivers education but also using it on the road is so important nowadays because we could be saving a lot of lives in the process and the rates of deaths might drop.
The steps that could be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving could be as simple as actually going at the speed the speed limit has posted or stopping at stop signs and red lights instead of speeding right past them. You could also not drink and drive because that has led to so many deaths in the U.S. because people drink irresponsibly and think it's safe to be driving on the road when they are intoxicated. There is also texting and driving or even just being distracted on the phone. Using your phone while driving is a distraction and can cause the death of someone else because you aren't paying attention to the road when you should be.
I have never had the experience of being in a car accident, but I have had times where I was in the car and we almost crashed. It was one day when my mom was driving back home and it was me and my siblings and well my mom was very sleepy and she kept closing her eyes and well I believe she fell asleep for a bit and we almost ran into a semi-truck it was the most scariest experience ever. My mom wasn’t being safe that day because she was driving knowing she was tired. She could have slept earlier the night before or ask one of my older siblings to take the driver seat and drive back home. At the end of the day we could all practice a little od safe driving.
The steps I could take to be a better and much safer driver on the road is trying to practice the laws of the road more instead of ignoring them because one day I can be the cause of someone's death because of my unsafe driving. I could also try to make sure others are also following the laws of the road to make sure others are safe as well as them. I could also help others find other ways of staying off their phone while driving when they are texting me or talking to me. Also, when I am driving with someone or when I'm driving someone, we could practice safer ways of driving together instead of being goofs on the road because it could save our lives. I could also make sure that our seatbelts are always being worn when we are in a car.
