The
importance of road education is often an issue that not many give
great relevance when they relate to the mortality rate due to
driving, we mistakenly believe that car accidents happen
accidentally, perhaps causes of fate, but we never give credit to our
ignorance.
In
fact, if car accidents were accidental, their number would be minimal
and would occur very rarely. According to the Carlos Slim Foundation
(2016), road specialists and road safety experts know that the human
factor is behind each accident, and the rest is due to problems such
as poor road conditions or weather conditions. That is, if we had one
hundred accidents in one day, ninety of them were detected caused by
people and only ten affected "fortuitous".
The
fact that a country has a higher or lower mortality rate due to
driving accidents depends directly on the carelessness of the driver,
passengers and pedestrians. Most of these accidents are due to the
lack of drivers ed, which ensures compliance with the rules and
controls that guarantee the safety and life of society through the
prevention of traffic accidents.
So,
if we start with the initiative to respect the rules. Being drivers;
driving at safe speeds, do not drive if you are under the influence
of alcohol or any drug, do not use your cell phone that includes not
answering calls or looking at your messages even if you are in a red
light. As a passenger; using the seat belt and especially not
distracting the conduit and finally, as a pedestrian; using the
pedestrian lines, looking to the sides before crossing and not
walking with the cell phone in hand.
Fortunately
I have not experienced any car accidents, my close relatives are very
respectful and careful when driving, however I am witness to so many
accidents occur due to negligence and ignorance in my country, as
drivers who are speeding answering a call, women who make up on the
road, people driving in an ethyl state, the anxiety to take advantage
of another vehicle, etc. Silly mistakes that cause a lot of deaths,
makes me reflect on what kind of society we live in and when it will
change.
Therefore,
I conclude that a large number of deaths could be avoided if the
importance of road education, If I drove, I would give the pedestrian
absolute priority, I would take care not to pay attention to my cell
phone, I would respect traffic signs and safety limits, and I would
also ensure that my passengers are properly located and protected by
the seat belt. It might sound somewhat excessive, but I consider that
maintaining our security and integrity is worth it, considering that
at the time of getting behind the wheel I am already taking
responsibility for the lives that I lead and with life I never play.
