Take me for example, I was in the car with my cousin, and we were driving to the park not too far from the house. We were on a neighborhood road and my cousin wanted to drive. I knew it was a bad thing to do because he had no driving experience whatsoever, but I still let him. He got behind the wheel and I got in the passenger seat, I put my seatbelt on. He was speeding a little bit considering it is a neighborhood. I wasn’t too stressed about it because the park was right around the corner. What I had noticed though was that as soon as we turned into a bigger lane, my cousin wasn’t looking at his surroundings at all. He was right in the middle lane and we were less than a mile away. I told him to turn and he impatiently said “Yeah I’m going to”. I let him do the rest and while we were progressively going closer to our destination, he turned on his blinker to the right, indicating to switch lanes. He looked at the side mirrors and saw that nobody was there, but the one thing he didn’t look at was his blind spot. Sure enough, as I turned to look there was a car there and my cousin was already switching lanes. It was too late before I could warn him and all of a sudden I heard a loud honk and then a small little scraping noise. The back of the car was mildly damaged with little scratches while the other car that we hit was not as bad as ours. My cousin was embarrassed and shocked at the fact that he never thought to look at his blind spots. My cousin was very apologetic to the person that he hit accidentally and thankfully the person wasn’t harsh about it at all, as a matter of fact, he didn’t have to pay a single dime towards the person's wreck even though it was a hundred percent my cousins fault that they got into a little car wreck.
In the end, what I’m trying to say is to try not to end up like my cousin, please check your blind spots, you may never know what would be there, especially if you are driving a big vehicle it is most necessarily important to check your blind spots because the bigger the vehicle, the more blind spots you are going to have. This could not only save your life but the life of others, it is a known fact that at least 25% of car wrecks happen because people don’t check their blind spots. Don’t be the 25%, it’s not that hard to turn around to see if there is a car next to you. Be more careful of yourself and other people’s surroundings.
