There are many
steps to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, the most
important one being to stay focused on the road. There are over
thousands of fatalities each year due to distracted driving. Some
steps you can take to reduce distractions are, do not change the
music while driving, text while driving, or try to eat while driving.

Most people don’t
realize that just changing the radio station or song can result in a
wreck. Changing the music is not worth being injured or dying. It’s
best to wait until the car is stopped to change the song. I
personally make playlists with my favorite music and select it to
play before I begin driving. Thus, changing the music while driving
is dangerous and there are ways to prevent it.

I believe the most
dangerous distractions for drivers is texting while driving. Most
people have become so addicted to their smartphones that they can’t
even drive without putting it down. When you begin to use your phone
while driving, it takes your eyes off the road and you don’t
realize what is happening around you. One way to prevent this is to
program your phone into your car. When you receive a text or phone
call, you can answer by speaking to your car. Most new cars have the
ability to do this. This is what I do, so that I don’t have to take
my eyes off the road. I can continue to stay focused but answer my
texts or calls safely if they are important. Hence, texting while
driving is risky and not worth anyone's life.

People who are in a
rush but hungry, will stop throw a drive through window then begin
eating while driving. Most people do not realize that this is a
distraction. Eating while driving requires you to take your hands off
the wheel, which is dangerous. This goes for taking a sip of
something to drink as well. When you look down to grab your drink, it
means you have taken your eyes off the road and can result in a
wreck. Try to prevent this by having better time management and being
able to park the car while you eat. I have to grab quick meals before
a ball game or practice, but I always wait until my car is parked
before I begin eating. Sometimes I will eat my food on the bus rides
to a game, because it’s safer than me trying to eat while driving.
Accordingly, eating while driving is a distraction and not worth the
risk of wrecking.
Henceforth, driving
while distracted is dangerous and we need to show more awareness
towards it. I always drive safely, without distractions. There are
many ways to prevent distracted driving, people just have to be
willing to take that prevention. As you can see, there are many ways
to reduce the number of deaths related to distracted driving.
