Growing
up, I had always loved being in the car. If it were up to me, we
would have driven anywhere we went instead of travel by plane. The
most important aspect of this, for me, was the different landscapes
you would be able to travel on when driving. I sincerely looked
forward to driving, because as a young child I didn’t understand
the dangers associated.
Going forward from
my formative years, to my teenage years. I was finally getting my
driver’s license and would be able to travel, but didn’t know
what to expect out of other drivers and this scared me immensely! I
felt I was educated enough in order to drive a vehicle on my own.
Little did I know, but not everyone is educated enough to be on the
road, but they end up receiving a license anyway. Although this is
the case, it is an important topic because this affects the roadways
and how other people get on with their lives. One poor driver or one
uneducated driver can disrupt the lives of anyone else on the road.

The number one
thing related to reducing deaths on the road, has to be distracted
driving. Nearly 600,000 people use an electronic device behind the
wheel of an automotive vehicle, and there are 9 deaths per day from
distracted driving while using a cell phone. Over 3,000 deaths occur
each year from distracted driving in the world, and if we could
eliminate restrictions to driving from distractions, then that would
eliminate the deaths of nearly 5,000 people per year in the world.

I myself have been
in an accident regarding distracted driving, and this is why I feel
so strongly about the advocacy of this message. I was driving while
looking at myself in the mirror and rear-ended someone company
vehicle. This occurrence made me feel immature and like less of an
educated driver so I corrected the faulty driving and have had no
issues since.

As a driver, it is
best for myself, as for everyone else on the road, to practice
defensive driving. If you can watch each person on the road, and have
better reaction skills, a driver would be able to eliminate many
wrecks each year, and this will benefit the driving community across
the world.
