Most
car accidents are the fault of one or both of the drivers. If all
drivers were educated in good driving practices, and actually
followed them, the number of incidents would decrease drastically.
The biggest problem is most likely people who try to multitask while
driving. Doing things like doing makeup, texting, or just using their
phone at all. If you are doing something like texting, you may start
to drift into a different lane, and if there is another person in
that lane who is not paying attention, a crash will most likely
happen.

My
dad texts while driving fairly often, and we have almost been in an
accident several times because of it. Once, he went over a whole lane
on the highway before noticing he was moving to the side. Recently he
has gotten better at waiting until we are stopped to text, or using
the voice assistant, and these close calls have reduced by a lot.
Some
steps I can take to be a safer driver is to make sure that I only
check my phone while stopped, and to make sure to be aware of my
position and what is around me at all times. I can help others by
making sure they are not distracted while I am riding with them.
