Distracted Driving

Every
teenager has to go through drivers ed before getting their
license. Without drivers ed, new drivers would be reckless,
irresponsible, and impulsive drivers. They would make the roads
incredibly dangerous, and numerous car crashes would occur.
I
believe that one of the biggest problems that drivers are facing
today is technology. Distracted driving claimed more than 3,000 lives
in 2017 Many adults and teenagers constantly talk on the phone, text,
snapchat, or change the song on Spotify.  But, this is an
incredibly dangerous behavior and causes the driver to take their
focus off of the road. Drivers of all ages do not understand how
dangerous and life-threatening distracted driving is. Therefore,
drivers must turn their phone ringer off and put the device out of
sight. This eliminates temptation and makes it easier for the driver
to focus solely on the road.
I
have never been in a car accident before, but I have noticed that
many of my friends and my parents are constantly on their phones
while driving.  This causes them to swerve the car, accelerate
at unnecessary times, and stop quickly to avoid rear-ending the car
in front of them. Unfortunately, they do not think that this action
affects their driving and they continue to drive while on their
phone.
    In
order to be a better driver, it is important to put away all
distractions before starting the car because sending that text is not
more important than your life.
