2024 Driver Education Round 2
Drive Safe and Know Your Surroundings

I have been in a car accident, but it was a few years when my parents were driving. My dad, mom, grandma, and I were heading home from a softball game, and we were driving on the highway. Then, out of nowhere, a deer came out of the corn fields and ran out into the middle of the highway when we were driving. The good thing was that my dad saw the deer, and it limited the damage to the car. The bad thing was that the deer got hurt and there was damage to the car. My dad dodges the deer at first, and then the deer tries to stop running and slides into the passenger side behind the driver’s side. While my grandma was sitting in the spot that the deer slid into. I was very nervous that the deer was going to hit the car very hard and the airbag was going to inflate and hurt my grandma. But at least with my dad’s safe driving, it caused my grandma to be safe and our car not to have a lot of damage done to it. I learned that it is important to be aware of your surroundings when you are driving from my dad's experience with the deer on the highway.
The steps that a person can take to become a better and safer driver as well as help others become safer on the road are by being aware of where you are and where you are going. If the driver is aware of where you are going, you are not having to do u-turns and have to brake hard. If you brake hard and the person behind you is driving, really choose to hit you.
