Yes, I have completed driver's education. Yes, I did pass my permit the first try, and yes, I do have my license. Yet that doesn't mean that getting there was easy. As it should be, I mean, would you want an uneducated driver out on the freeway? No, I hope. Therefore, in America, we can use driver's education as a way to set a standard for everyone out there. I remember when I was completing my 30-hour requirement, I thought how stupid it was, but looking back on it now, I can truly see the impact it has on my everyday life. Because it may not be the most fun 30 hours of your life, but the lessons you learn from it cannot only last a lifetime but save a life. Looking back now, I remember learning all sorts of things, from the physics of how a car moves to what to do when you hydroplane. I personally have seen and heard of all sorts of incidents that could've been preventable. Knowing that there are kids out there who have skimmed through or even cheated through driver’s ed is concerning. You are not only putting yourself in danger but also everyone else on the road with you. Therefore, we must teach future generations how important it is to learn. Many teenagers get in accidents; I mean, I did too. Two years ago in my school parking lot, yes, we both were at fault, but things could've gotten much worse if we didn't stop. Knowing that you’ve been in an accident is not only sad but also embarrassing, at least for me; I mean, I was in front of half of my school. But after a month, everyone forgot, except me. I realized that I need to pay more attention and be more careful. I am just thankful that no one got hurt. I know that it's not an easy thing to drive, but it doesn't mean we should slack off. The sections and reading we complete in driver's ed help the way we function every day, from the rides to school or late-night hangs with friends. We all have to be cautious to make sure everyone's safe. There are many ways to save lives, yet the most effective one is by sitting behind the computer and completing your driver's ed. It is fun to have your license and have this newfound freedom, yet you must realize that you are controlling a huge and heavy vehicle that will cause damage if not used properly. Every time I leave my house, as I walk out the door, my mom yells Make good choices and be careful, because she knows how dangerous it is to drive. Not saying that we should let that fear inside take control over our beings, but rather understand that it is there and we can do things to help it. For example, understand the facts. The chances of you getting in a car accident are 77% of people. That's a huge majority, and something needs to be done to fix that. Because if you don't wanna be in an accident, then you should not only protect yourself, but everyone else too.  Looking back now, I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to learn because not every country has the chance to take driver's ed.  As a young driver, when I first got my permit at 15 ½ it was scary to be on the road, but the knowledge I learned from drivers taught me how the rules work and how certain laws can affect other drivers and me. For instance, turning on red doesn't make sense in every country, but in our country it does; due to Driver's Ed, everyone is taught that you are allowed to turn on red if there is no sign saying no. One lesson in particular that I remember from driver's ed is that driving is a defensive sport; you always have to be the lookout, you always have to be aware, and you always must make sure that you are paying full attention to the road, as it is a responsibility and a privilege to have your license. As everyone has to take driver's ed, we can use this as a backbone for a standard of education for all of our drivers. Taking driver's ed ensures that people have the learning opportunities to know how to protect themselves in an accident. Giving students the knowledge that they need when driving a 30 ton vehicleSomething I can do a lot of damage if not learn how to use properly. First-time drivers often rely on what they learned from driver's ed when on the road, as that knowledge can sit with us for years and years, even a lifetime for some.
