Education for young adults in the United States of America is extremely important in reducing the number of driving-related crashed and deaths. If these joveniles are exposed to the realization of the severe consequences of their actions - such as texting and driving - it could inspire them to not act on such impulses like checking their texts or answering a call while driving. Anything that takes a driver’s attention off of the road, even for one second, runs the risk of ending in a crash and quite possible a death as well. Programs that show young drivers the real-life consequeces of their actions will overall help reduce the number of driving-related deaths because even if a small portion of these drivers are scared into focusing on the road, the impact can be significant. The more educated drivers are on the risks and possible consequences of their actions while driving, the higher the likelihood of reducing the number of driving-related deaths will be.
As technology has advanced, more and more safety measures have been installed into cars in order to prevent crashes & implement safety at all times. I believe that these steps are the ones that are going to need to keep happening and advancing in order to help reduce the number of deaths from driving-related incidents.
I have, fortunately, never been involved in a car crash, but I have witnessed members of my family acting irresponsibly while driving, which could have resulted in a car crash. For example, when I am driving with my older sister at the wheel, she likes to control the music. If she knows an exact song she wants to listen to, while she is driving she will occasionally pick up the phone and search for it. This small action, although she believes she can manage it while driving, is one that can easily result in a car crash and ultimately possibily a death.
In order to continually try to reduce the number of driving-related deaths per year, I can remind those I am driving with that I can look up a song, send a text or look up directions for them as a passenger instead of having the driver do so. We can also encourage the use of BlueTooth for cars to answer and send texts/calls as well as find directions and music so that the physical action of looking away from the road and at a phone, is not required to get these things done.
