Drivers
education is a school for new drivers to learn the essential safety
rules of the road. The importance for drivers of all ages the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are critical to vehicle safety
both as a driver and as a pedestrian. Drivers ed teaches the
skills of being a safe driver to reduce the number of deaths by
teaching basic safety rules and the signs on the road.
Some
steps that can be taken to reduce the amount of death on the road is
simply wearing a seat belt. Wearing a seat belt is the easiest way to
reduce death in a car collision because it’s what keeps the driver
and any other passenger from going through the windshield. According
to the article Policy Impact: Seat belts it asserts, “People not
wearing a seat belt are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a
vehicle during a crash. More than 3 out of 4 people who are ejected
during a fatal crash die from their injuries. Seat belts save
thousands of lives each year, and increasing use would save thousands
more.” According to this quote wearing a seat is essential to
staying safe in a car collision. I have not been in a car collision
but a friend of mine has suffered being in a brace from a collision
do to the fact that he was sleeping on the road, which is another bad
habit that people don’t think too much about. Not having the energy
to drive is crucial in a car accident because driving drowsy
decreases your awareness and reaction time.
Some
steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver is making sure
that I do all my basic safety rules such as wearing a seat belt,
using my signals, obeying the three-second rule, etc. one way I can
help others become a better driver is by respecting the right of way
of other drivers and sharing the road.
