When my parents started teaching me how to drive, I was always nervous. I thought that I might crash and create a lot of problems just because I was careless. As I began to drive more and more, I’ve gotten more comfortable and started to enjoy driving. However, one day me and my parents were coming from the store, and we were heading into our house. When I was driving up the driveway I got distracted and I hit the gas petal instead of the break and I accidently drove into the side of my garage. Everyone was fine it wasn’t a big crash, but I feared how my parents would react. My dad was on the passenger seat and when I looked over at him, he told me to reverse and once I parked and got out to see the damage he laughed. I was surprised, I expected him to be mad, but he told me that it was alright, it was an accident. That as long that we were ok it didn’t matter. The car had a few scratches that were barely noticeable, the garage on the other hand. The wall was only connected from the top of the ceiling leaving it hanging a bit. My dad was a bit concerned about fixing the garage, but he did it by himself it took him an hour. Now it’s just a joke me and my family say every time someone is driving into the garage. After that experience, I’ve paid more attention when I drive and now, I know that if I ever do get into a car crash my parents would be there for me and they won’t be mad at me.
Another car accident that I’ve experience wasn’t me driving it was my dad. Me and my whole family were on our way to the store, and we were driving by the neighborhood. My dad was driving up a stop sign, so he slowed down but didn’t make a complete stop and he turned left without completely looking both ways. When suddenly a car from the right hit us on the side. We were all fine, just scared the other people from the other car were fine too. Both cars looked bad but good thing we had insurance and it covered most of the cost. Since the car didn’t make it, my dad had to ask one of his friends to give us a ride home. My dad wasn’t on his phone or was looking at something else, he was looking at the road and he looked concentrated at what was happening around him. My guess is that he was worried about somethings else, and he took his attention off driving. Accidents can happen unexpectedly, and it can sometimes not have a logical explanation of how it happened.
I don’t take any driving classes; my dad was the one who thought me how to drive and I’ve learned a lot from him, but it would’ve been better if I took actual classes with people who went to school for it. I bought a driver’s handbook and I’ve learned a lot from reading it. It mostly showed the meaning of the signs and what to do and not do on the road. Another way for me to improve my driving is by looking at other people drive. I can learn from their experience and compare people’s driving to see what the best way to do something. I recommend people to get into a driving class, getting help from a professional could really decrease accidents and crashes that can happen. If you can’t do that then you can always look it up, you can find anything online now.
