In 1934, a program called Driver’s Education started. This program teaches teens and adults the importance and safety of driving measures. Adolescents learn signs, road patterns, common road safety, seatbelt safety, how to check tires, and so much more. The program is only a few short weeks but in those weeks can change the trajectory of people’s view on the importance of other’s lives. With this program boosting the knowledge of younger generations, they will continue to learn how to drive safely and prevent deaths. Driver’s Ed can open the eyes of younger individuals, they strive to inform children about road safety, while also scaring the individuals to understand how important it is to not be distracted and keep people safe.
To reduce the number of deaths related to driving we need to take more precautions. Check your cellular device before you start to drive. This can give you time to look and understand recent updates so you don’t have to use it when you are in the middle of driving. Putting your device in the back seat or the seat next to you can prevent you from wanting to reach for it disrupting the drive. You can also have your music at the appropriate level so you can hear and use all five senses to make sure you know what is happening in your surroundings.
As a young girl, I have not experienced many accidents. One summer day a male, was distracted after a swim at Midco. My babysitter, sibling and I were also sitting in our car. The individual backed out and slammed right into our car causing some of us to fall forward. No one was injured, but we found out the reason this happened was because he was on his phone. Another Example did not happen to me, but my close friends. It was many years ago on a warm day. My friend, was a toddler, her sister a young baby, and her mom were riding bike to the new house they were building. The mother was pulling the girls in a small bicycle carrier, the house she was building was just a little further down the highway than the grandmother’s house. She was on the right side of the road, keep in mind it was maybe five minutes biking distance, and someone came up behind them. A young man was so distracted on his phone that he didn’t see her biking and he hit her. The mother was so badly injured she passed away. The little girls also had to go to the hospital and suffered injuries. This man’s simply mistake cost the life of someone. This stresses the importance of that you need to stay focused. You can make a simple mistake and that could change your life. This man has to live with the guilt and shame of what he did to a sweet woman’s life, that is why it is so important, because this happens to so many others in this world.
To help others in this world I will continue to not go on my phone or be distracted by music, friends and so much more. So many distractions and silly excuses can not account for the lives of sweet innocent people losing their lives. I will keep my music at an appropriate level to hear and understand what is going on around me. I will check my messages before descending and put my phone in a spot where I would not be tempted to use it. Creating these steps and using them in your daily life will improve your insight and represent to yourself how easy it is to give up the little things for something so much more valuable
Life is so sweet and wholesome. In my life it is truly important to be safe and save others. This kind of stuff can be prevented, and it can be prevented extremely easily. If everyone decided to give up small things we could make the world a better place. Just imagine, you putting your phone down for ten minutes, can save the lives of so many. This not only creates an amazing impact on the world, but also saves others hearts from the possible heartbreaks they would have had to endure. Thank you for your time and consideration. Please be kind, loving, safe, and stay undistracted.
