Fuel Your Brain with Driving Knowledge

Although teenagers may be hip to fashion changes and new technology, they aren’t as savvy with their knowledge on the rules of the road. Sixteen to nineteen year olds are around three times more likely to get in a fatal accident. However, according to AAA, if teens take some sort of drivers ed course, the rate of accidents reduce by 4.3%. Although it’s exhilarating for teens to secure the right of passage into adulthood, most assuredly, safer decisions are made on the road when backed up with the knowledge of drivers ed.

Many entities can affect why a person may get in a fatal car crash. The most important step people can take to avoid death behind the wheel is to STAY PRESENT. Yes, you can always make sure to put on your seatbelt and stay off your phone, but even zoning out on the road can make for a detrimental situation. If you find yourself not staying attentive, then pull over. It is much more important to be safe to yourself and others.

I personally, was in a car accident of my own. I was behind the wheel driving to my place of work. I had a rough day and was extremely anxious about everything. I got to an intersection and didn’t see a car coming, so I started to turn left. All of a sudden, a car thrashed the side of my car and it sent me spinning and almost hitting another vehicle. If I was more in tune with my surroundings, I would’ve seen that car on the road.

Being a better driver is important for not only the safety of yourself but your family members too. You won’t always be alone in your car. Sometimes, driving little cousins to soccer or taking your sister to school is necessary. It is imperative that you demonstrate proper driving etiquette so you make a good impression on them. Teaching the future generation how to be safe and protected is of the utmost importance. It also makes you very aware of how you want to be perceived.
