You yourself can reduce your chances from getting into a car accident by simply getting to know your vehicle. have you ever been driving and somehow you turn on your windshield wipers instead of your turning single? Well, it happens to the best of us and that's why it's important to know where your emergency lights are, where to locate the speedometer, your oil and temperature gauge, your lights and the other mechanisms of your car. Knowing where your brakes are can be useful when you have to park on a hill, so your car won't roll down the hill and crash. Obeying the street laws is a great step to take when driving safely. Don't drink and drive because at least 30 people a day die in a car accident under the influence of alcohol, states the NHTSA. If you're sleepy, pull over to the side and rest because your eyes get heavy, your body gets tired and you're not focused on the road leading you to hit someone or driving off the road. Obeying the speed limit can reduce accidents, but most people tend to go over the limit, due to their need for speed.
My grandpa had a need for speed because when he would take me to school, he would be zooming through the streets, going 65 mph on a 40-mph limit street. There were times when we took the back roads and he would hit 90 mph, not stopping at any stop sign. And when we drove through the canyons, oh my gosh I thought I was going to lose my life because he would drive 60 mph through these narrow curves. But as a new driver I'm dedicated to not drive like my grandpa and rather obey the speed limit, not drive while texting and be more aware of my surroundings when I drive.
