Importance Of Safety While On The Road

Something that is very important to know and keep in mind while driving is the number of deaths as a result of driving. This is important for one to know so that they can be more cautious and really cherish and protect their life while on the road. I know that people who drive fast and crazy on the road don’t keep in mind the negative effects that it can bring and just do it for “fun”. I also know that people don’t realize the true harm that can come from not driving safely on the road. They only really notice how unsafe one might be once they themselves get in a car accident or one of their loved ones or close friends. We must provide people with information about how deadly driving irresponsibly is and we need to bring more attention to this topic. I know that once people talk about it more and acknowledge it more we will be safer drivers and smarter while on the road. Some actions that we as a society can take to reduce the number of deaths caused by driving are not driving under the influence, driving the speed limit, not cutting people off, and being cautious on the road. On top of that we can also pay attention while driving, not blasting music and singing, don't text and drive, don't eat and drive, stop when there is a stop sign, and look both ways before going through an intersection. We can also read articles about the dangers of driving or take lessons. This will cause people to be more cautious while driving. This is very important to me because I’ve been in a car accident before. I was around 9-10 years old and I was in the car with my mom, sister, and dog. What had happened is my mom was slowing down at a stop sign, and the next thing we know this car that was speeding crashed into us hitting the back of our car. Luckily the accident wasn’t that bad and the car had minimal damages but I was young so I started to cry and panic because nothing like that had ever happened to me before. There was also one other thing that tragically happened to me when I was 7. I was in school when all the sudden my dad picked me up earlier than usual, he seemed scared and anxious. I kept asking him what was wrong and I could tell she was thinking on how to tell us the best way possible. He finally told us that my mom had been in a terrible accident while she was headed home from work. I didn’t know how serious it was until we arrived at the hospital. My mom was on the verge of possibly dying, she got terribly hit by a truck. I was in tears, my heart was beating faster than normally. I was worried that my mom wasn’t going to make it all because someone else was driving irresponsibly. Thank god that she healed from her injuries and I was ecstatic. Now that I drive on my own because of that event happening I always drive with caution because I don't want to tell my mom what I went through. Steps that I can personally take to be safer while driving is being cautious on the road. Being both on the offensive and defensive side so no harm is done to me or others. I can also choose when I drive, for example it would be better if I drive under the best weather conditions and when it’s not night time. I can make sure I never drive under the influence or distract myself or others while I drive. Another instance that I can share is when I was in the car with my aunt and she was driving. At the time she had just turned 20 twenty-one so she was still a little irresponsible and she was driving recklessly. Luckily nothing bad happened to us but I had to tell her to slow down and to be careful. Not only that but I can also inform others on how to be safer while driving.I can bring awareness to others about the importance of driving safely and being cautious. Taking these actions will keep me and others safe, even though it might not prevent everyone from tragically getting in a car accident it will definitely reduce deaths caused by car accidents. I’m always making the right decisions to stay safe on the road.
