Volunteering
is defined as freely offering to do something. This means to go out
of our way to help an organization, person, or even animal.
Volunteering can take place in many forms. It could be as simple as
helping someone cross the street to helping at the local animal
shelter. Either way, whether it is big or small, volunteering can
make someone's day a little bit brighter. This is why it is so
important to volunteer. By volunteering and doing even the simplest
of task, we can make someone's day, help our local community, and
show someone what true kindness is.

Volunteer
efforts that I have participated in such as helping clean the local
park or helping at the food pantry helped to improve the community.
By helping clean up the local park I was able to clean up an area
that not only impacted me but also my friends and neighbors. In the
sense of helping the community cleaning up the park isn’t the only
thing that I have helped with. I have helped with tasks such as
helping at the food pantry and at the animal shelter.. These tasks
allowed me to help those who aren't as fortunate and not only are
was able to help them physically but was also able to help make their
day just a little brighter. Volunteering is something that is so
important in life and in our community.
Not
only does volunteering help our community, but I’ve learned that
you never know who is watching you. As we get older, we always have
someone looking up to us whether it is a younger sibling or a
student. When we do something that is not asked of us and we think no
one is watching, there really is someone watching. The younger
generations are looking up to us and our actions such as volunteering
are showing them what true kindness is. They see our actions and
strive to follow in our footsteps. This is why it's vital that we
take the time to volunteer, because by us doing one small task we are
showing the future generations how to be kind and the impact of one
small dead.
I’ve
noticed in some of my volunteer efforts in the past such as helping
teach Sunday School and working with kids through Spirit Horse, a
therapeutic riding center, that I am able to teach and inspire
younger kids. My volunteer efforts were able to help these kids have
a role model and someone that they could look up to. I was able to
not only help them grow physically but also mentally. Volunteering
with these kids not only helped them but it also helped me to learn
lessons about being accountable and being a role model that I will
carry for the rest of my life.

Volunteering
is so vital to helping a community grow and develop and I will
continue to help my local community in any way that I can through
volunteer efforts.
