It all starts with the driver. If the driver uses the correct precautions and steps to stay safe this will decrease the number of deaths. This includes wearing seat belts. My dad is a police officer and he works on the highway and he has seen a lot of fatal wrecks and most of the time its people getting ejected from their car. He says, “ this is the number one thing that can save a person's life.” I have been told since I was a little kid to remember to wear my seat belt and it's a force of habit now and I do it without even knowing. Something as little as wearing a seat belt would keep more families together and stop them from missing their loved ones.
Life can change in a heartbeat. One moment your fine and the next your hurt. Car crashes do this to peoples lives. Thousands of peoples lives change because of this way of transportation. Everyone who drives a car will experience or will know a close loved one be involved in a wreck. This will affect your life for the better or worse. For me, it affected it for the better because nobody got hurt and it made me realize the danger and risks that come when people step foot in a car. It made me become a safer driver by following the law of the roads.
Take a second and evaluate the last time you drove. Did you wear a seat belt? Were you distracted? Did you follow speed limits? Evaluate yourself and focus on making a difference. We are all human and we can all progress and learn. We can do this through loved ones and through a drivers ed course. Cherish every moment that you have now by thinking of others on the road before thinking of yourself.
