Driver education is a comprehensive program that aims to improve the knowledge and expertise related to road safety. It covers a wide range of topics from basic road regulations and the operation of a vehicle to advanced driving techniques. One major benefit of driver education is it prevents risky behaviors and allows drivers to make well informed decisions. It also prepares them for different driving scenarios and practice safe driving regardless of any road condition.
Some steps to reduce the number of deaths related to driving is to get drivers to dedicate all of their attention towards driving and nothing else. That includes no texting, eating or anything that keeps you unoccupied from driving. Texting requires you to take your hands off the wheel and typing even a quick message puts you and others at risk. Texting also takes your mind off the road and it is apparent in some teens who will run red lights or drive slower than the speed limit due to the balancing of two tasks. Humans are actually incapable of multitasking so it is impossible to divert a hundred percent of your attention to both tasks. Furthermore it is a lot better to divert your attention to the more important task. Eating while driving may be harmless but it can also be distracting by decreasing reaction time and is also considered a form of distracted driving. Another thing that needs to be addressed are the risky driving behaviors. Some “professional” drivers tend to be arrogant and are more likely to take risks which can be harmful to themselves and others. Their arrogance can also lead to road rage which can be risky to themselves and anyone else who is involved. People should know that risky behavior does not make you a better driver than anyone else.
None of my family members have ever been in a car accident recently but there were some instances of near misses. One of my family members claims to be the best driver in the world and they sometimes drive recklessly but are able to defend us from getting into accidents from reckless drivers. There were some times where we were in a rush that caused us to drive over the speed limit but still try to stay safe. One of my family members seems to also get annoyed by what they call the lesser or less experienced drivers that they will drive faster and try to cut them off. I tell them that I agree when it is annoying when other drivers move to slow, cut you off or just don’t show respect but I also tell them that two wrongs do not make a right.
Some steps I can take to be a better road driver is to always update myself with road regulations and make sure to consider important factors such as reliability and location. Just like for any research. It is imperative to look at the road regulations of trustable websites. For example the state’s dmv website. The location is always important because each state has different road regulations so it is always handy to know the regulation of your desired state before traveling to another state. It is definitely imperative for driving to another country too. Some other steps I can take is to educate my future children or my younger family members even before they go into a driving school so that they will not only find it easier to get their license but also be more likely to take the road regulations more seriously. Many people pass the drivers test and get a driver's license but that does not always make the roads any safer. If I give them knowledge then they would actually practice safe driving rather than just passing a test and making deadly mistakes.
These are some of the important steps to take and the importance driving education has on reducing the amount of driver-related deaths. One way was to create an optimal distraction-free driving experience. Second way was to put your safety over arrogance. There is no need to compete to see who is the better driver. Lastly, it is always good to know some extra safety rules before getting a driver’s education to further increase the impact of the driving safety of those and others. Drivers education will lower the amount of deaths and allow you to feel more confident in driving thereby creating a safer environment
