When I think of
driving, I always remember to be alert on the road. If I do not, I
will not have time to react when an accident comes. After I got my
learner’s permit, I was nervous because I had to pay attention to
my surroundings, and it was hard for me to focus on everything.
College began, and I stopped practicing with my driving ever since. I
have never been in an accident, but unfortunately, there are people
who experience deadly car accidents because they pay little attention
to the road. Some drivers become distracted such as texting while
driving while some drive recklessly and aggressively. As drivers, we
need to remember that safety is the key to drive responsibly, and
that is when drivers ed comes to play. Drivers ed is
important because learning about the safety of driving and learning
how to avoid distractions and driving recklessly can help prevent
deaths in car accidents.

To be safe,
drivers must know how to avoid deaths in car accidents. One way to
reduce the number of deaths is to eliminate distractions such as
texting and calling. When you enter into drivers ed, you will
hear a lot about the dangers of texting and driving. It is a scary
fact, but there are ways you can do to avoid the dangers. If a text
message is important, do not reply to the text while driving. You can
always pull in someplace where it is safe to do so, or you can wait
until you arrive at home or work. Also, try not to make or answer
phone calls since they can also be distracting. We are all tempted to
answer calls from our family members or friends, but we should ignore
them at all costs until we reach our stop.

Aggressive
driving can also be a cause of car deaths and accidents. I have a few
in my family who have road rage and get irritated when other drivers
are being rude. Rage blinds drivers from being alert for incoming
vehicles and can lead them to reckless driving. Drivers must keep
their anger to themselves and be courteous of others even when the
other drivers are not courteous themselves. If you are having road
rage, do not do anything that puts the other driver in danger. The
other driver may have family with him or her, so you do not want to
harm them as well.

As drivers, new
and old, it is our responsibility to not let distractions and
emotions blind our judgements. Our actions do not only impact us, but
impact others. That is why we need drivers ed to teach
ourselves how we should act on the road. I have a long way to learn,
but with patience and training, I can keep my anxiety to a minimum
and obey traffic laws. I am planning on getting my permit renewed so
I can practice how to become a safe driver.
