Safe
Driving
It
is very import to be a safe driver to prevent collisions with other
cars, trees, people, animals, and guardrails. Safe driving can help
prevent all of those things from happening; however, several people
crash due to unsafe driving. To become a better driver, you can do
the following; be alert and stay away from distractions, control your
speed, never drive while intoxicated, keep your eyes on the road, and
wear your seatbelt.

As
many people drive, most tend to get distracted by their phones,
others in the car, and their music. Being distracted as a driver can
cause serious danger to themselves, anyone else in the car, and
others around them, so people need to be safer when driving. There
are several courses to take to become safer drivers, such as the
Driver Example Program, which instituted a Defensive Driving Course.
Teens tend to get into more crashes than adults, due to their cell
phone or friends distracting them in the car, adults can also get
distracted by their cell phone or their kids in the backseat.
Controlling
your speed is such an important factor to become a better driver.
Speeding is one of the main causes that lead up to crashes, people
think they can handle their car at any speed; however, they are wrong
and end up hurting themselves, others, or getting speeding tickets.
Speeding is the number one reason why people lose control of their
car and end up hurting other people and themselves.

Driving
while intoxicated is also a main reason crashes occur. People think
that they are okay to drive after leaving a party or bar, but most of
them who do drive while intoxicated end up in a ditch or in the
hospital from crashing into someone else. Driving while intoxicated
can lead to drivers swerving into the other lane, running through red
lights, and no stopping at stop signs. All of those things lead to
car crashes and sometimes death.

Keeping
your eyes on the road is a huge part of being a safe driver. Looking
down at your phone or at people on the side of the road takes your
attention away from the road. Several people rear end others due to
them looking down or to the side, people take their attention away
from the road and what is in front of them which leads to them not
paying attention to what other cars are doing.

Wearing
your seatbelt is a huge factor in being a safer driver. The seatbelt
may seem pointless at times, and several people believe they don’t
need to wear one. The seatbelt is the only thing holding you back in
your seat. Say you crash into a telephone pole and your not wearing
your seatbelt, you will more than likely fly through the windshield
and hurt yourself extremely, or you can die.

Being alert and staying away from distractions, controlling your
speed, never driving while intoxicated, keeping your eyes on the
road, and wearing your seatbelt are all factors that lead to becoming
a safer driver. Following these simple steps can help you and others
be safer on the roads.
