SAFE
DRIVING

Driver
education is important in reducing the number of deaths as a result
of driving because it teaches you the skills needed to drive safely.
For example, if you are supposed to be going at 50 miles per hour and
instead you are going at 60 and the person in front of you is going
at the right you might end up crashing into them. Many people have
died because of texting and driving and driving under the influence.
More than 9 people die daily, and more than 1060 people are injured
daily in the United States due to distracted driving. Driver
education teaches you that you should never drive and text at the
same time, or drink and drive.

Some
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths because of
driving are to always be aware of your surroundings. If you are not
aware of your surroundings and there is ice on the road or an animal,
like a deer it is likely that you will get in a car accident and
maybe even die. Another way to prevent deaths is to know and
understand the rules of the road. For example, the right of way, when
you come to a stop the person to your right gets the right of way, if
the person does not know and goes ahead anyway, there would be
another accident. Most likely resulting in a death with every
accident.

I
have never experienced a car accident. My parents have always been
very careful when driving, especially when me or my siblings are in
the car. They never used their phones while driving and are always
paying attention to their surroundings. I have no idea how my friends
drive; therefore, I have no idea if the drive irresponsibly. People
must understand that actions have consequences and so they have to be
careful. Not only does it affect them but also the people around
them.

Some
steps that can be taken to be a better and safer driver is to take
drivers ed to be aware of the rules of the road. Another step
is to wear a seatbelt and always make sure that your car is in good
conditions. You should never drive under the influence or text and
drive. Making sure that your mental and physical health is good, so
that you do not end up spasming while driving and running someone
over. And most importantly to always be aware of your surroundings.
