Unfortunately,
motor vehicle wrecks are the leading cause of death for teenagers.
Teenagers around the age of sixteen have a higher crash rate than
drivers of any other age. These statistics manifest the importance of
drivers ed since many young adults fail to realize that driving
isn’t simply a rite of passage. Before operating a motor vehicle,
it is important that one fully comprehends the danger associated with
driving which is why drivers ed is needed so it can help
teenagers develop vehicle control and traffic maneuvers. Driver
education helps young adults understand how to safely operate a
vehicle during many dangerous driving circumstances like driving on a
busy interstate or driving at night. Drivers ed also stresses
the importance of adjusting
a vehicle's steering wheel, seat, and rear and side-view mirrors. It
also allows for teens to practice communicating while driving,
entering and exiting traffic, using turn lanes, changing lanes, and
adjusting their vehicles' speeds when necessary which gives young
adults the experience they need. Steps that can be taken to reduce
the number of deaths related to driving are to make sure you take
steps to protect yourself and others. Before you begin driving the
car, assure yourself that you are wearing your seatbelt as well as
making sure that other passengers in the car are wearing it as well.
Safe driving is something that I am very passionate about because I
have been involved in a number of car accidents due to family members
and friends being irresponsible on the road. Since I have experienced
first hand what happens when you become distracted or irresponsible,
I have thought of some steps that I can take to become a safer
driver. When I get in my car, I make sure to store my phone away in a
location that is not reachable from the drivers seat. Other steps
that I can do to help others become safer on the road is to
communicate with my friends and family if I see that they are doing
something wrong and give them tips and advice on how they can improve
their driving.
