Safe Driving

As children become teenagers, they begin to yearn for independence and freedom away from their parents and the first action teenagers usually do is get their driver's license and drive around town like they’re “cool”. Unfortunately, most teenagers are so eager to cruise in their future vehicle, they don’t focus on the education needed for new drivers. Driver’s Education is very important to beginning drivers because it lays down the foundation of driving in certain places or circumstances and having the ability to know and take care of your vehicle. Every road or situation an inexperienced driver travels on has the capability to go in a multitude of different directions and numerous situations could arise so the first-time drivers need to know how to navigate them. Rules are needed since many new drivers drive carelessly because of many distractions around them like music blaring, cell phones, friends or they just feel like they “know” everything about driving but in actuality, they don't. However, this usually results in them getting seriously injured or dying in an accident or hurting someone else. In fact, according to “edgarsnyder.com”, auto-motor accidents are the leading cause of death for 15-20-year-old drivers. Education of road rules are important to know when trying to avoid causing an accident and becoming a safer driver. Some tips to become a safer driver are to be fully concentrated in their surroundings by turning off phones or loud music while driving, knowing the rules when driving through intersections, and how to handle driving in certain weather conditions. I feel the only way to decrease the number of automotive deaths is mandatory completion of Drivers Education for all upcoming drivers before they can obtain a legal driver's license and periodically, drivers need to be tested on their driving abilities. Another way to decrease automotive deaths is to clear out any dangerous distractions such as cell phone usage during driving. It may even be necessary for all cell phone usage while in the car to be legally prohibited in order to be more concentrated on the road.
I personally haven’t got into an accident or drove irresponsibly myself but I have witnessed others driving recklessly on occasions. I have friends who have driven a little unsafe while I was a passenger in their vehicle and I can say it made me quite uncomfortable. They had music blaring, everyone screaming and, needless to say, did not pay attention to their surroundings whatsoever.
I have completed a driver's education course. I studied the driver's manual over and over before getting my permit. I do not call on my phone nor text when I am behind the wheel. I remind the people around me that I am trying to keep my concentration fully focused on my driving and that I care enough to keep them safe whenever they’re driving as well. Driver’s Education is an important tool to use so that not only you, but everyone can be drive safer on the roads.
