What steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths due to driving include: keep both your hands on the steering wheel, be aware of the road. If you are driving long distances, move your eyes from left to right to avoid highway hipnosis. Take a 5 to 10 minute rest stop every 2 hours to walk around and enjoy the scenery, or grab a coffee or soda., resting every 2 hours for 10 mintues helps. Also, do not fumble for a radio station, grab a bag of chips or eat while driving. Also , females should not apply makeup while driving. Pull over to the side of the road if you need to make a call or text , or eat your sandwich and come to a full complete stop before doing so. You will avoid accidents this way.
I have had an experience being a car accident while driving. Backing out of a parked position. I have a rearview view above my radio which I have not used. I backed into a car going up the lane while I was backing out. Now I use my rearview mirror, make sure the coast is clear, and there are no oncoming cars before backing out of a parked space. Deers are also a major cause of accidents. If you are driving in a wooded area, follow the speed limit. If you see one deer, there may be others. Slow down and either let the deer pass or back out. They will do one of the two, proceed or back away. I hit a deer in 2017 on a winters day and have not hit one since. It is under comprehensive and will not raise your auto rates. I know that because I have an insurance license and have sold insurances for 3 years. They will however damage your vehicle, even a baby deer can do damage.
If you see a school bus with the sign stop outward, Stop. I stop at least 3 car lenghts and stay stopped until children come off and cross the street. Wait until the bus drivers stop sign is pulled in before proceeding and make sure the coast is clear before proceeding.
The steps you can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help others on the road include: Keep both hands on the steering wheel at all times, be alert to cars cutting and swerving into your lane or trying to pass. Do not text or use your phone and drive, it is illegal and will cost you a ticket and a fine. Do not change radio stations or apply makeup or eat while driving, pull over to the side of the road. Also, pull over to the side of the road and make a complete stop, preferably in a parking lot , to call or text and apply makeup or eat. Before driving, make sure your mirrors are adjusted properly, fasten your seat belts, and make sure you are equipped with a spare tire, jack and flashlight. In the winter time, pump your brakes so you do not skid in on the ice. You can also drive slower when it is icy or there is snow present. You will avoid many accidents by doing so and you will be able to stop better. If you want to reduce your auto rates or need more information on safe driving, take an online drivers safety course. It will help you with ideas and insight on safe driving and will probably lower your insurance rates by up to 5% when a certificate of passing is presented to your auto insurance carrier. Thank you.
