Driver Education is a very important part of people’s lives. In today's world we are worried about other people when we need to stop and yield on what we are doing while driving. It's a very important factor in our lives and it can be harmful if we are not careful. 1 out of 150 people will die in a car crash but we can eliminate that 1 if we take action and use driver education to follow the rules on the road.
Most people think driving is just a way to get somewhere. When really it is the operation of a motor vehicle and taking that into consideration you are the person behind the wheel operating it. You have to always be paying attention and not just to what you are doing but also to your surroundings. Another way to stay safe and reduce the number of deaths and injuries while driving is to stay at the speed limit at all times. Going over the speed limit and speeding could get you hurt if not being able to stop. Also doing less then the speed limit could also get you hit from behind and hurt. One of the top 5 car wrecks are people not doing the speed limit.
The things that can be done to reduce the number of injuries related to driving could be to keep all distractions away and out of reach, like a phone or electronic device. Another way to keep the numbers low is to pay attention and if you know you don't feel good or know you aren’t able to drive don’t get on the road. Call someone like a parent, guardian, or friend to come pick you up.
Being in these situations is scary. One time my dads tire had busted and he had rolled his car on the way home from work. He had called mom after and let her know what had happened but it was a scary experience to know your Father was in a car wreck and you were only 12 years old and found out. He was okay after the wreck but it was one of the scariest things to get told at that age. No one should have to go through such a thing but things happen for a reason but some of those things can be prevented.
One thing I think would help on the roads is just to be smart. Be the person to be there for people if others are irresponsible and are drinking say “hey why don’t you stay at my place for the night” instead of letting them be on the news the next morning. Be the one to prevent your friend from ruining their life. Be the one who takes action and helps friends realize you're not just driving on the road when you are not in control of yourself. You are not in control of yourself and that puts you not in control of the road when you need to be the one in control of the road. People don’t realize that just the littlest bit of alcohol or drugs in your system can trigger anything. When saying “Im fine to drive” 2 minutes down the road and you end up with your car in a tree. That is not fine in any way and that could possibly lead to an injury that could last a lifetime so help another if irresponsible.
Each year more new drivers are on the road. Some haven’t been taught driver's education and some never have had good influences during their time in the car with others. Many people have people in the car with them that are on their phones texting while driving or speeding or even maybe a little bit of both. This is just another reminder that some people aren’t paying attention to their surroundings and the way they are driving next to others. So it's important to always be on the lookout and to keep your head on a swivel. There are about 500,000 13-19 year olds who are injured every year because of distractions while driving. Around 6,000 of those teens are resulting in death in that same year. These aren’t numbers to scare, they are numbers to be aware of. Yes these things are gonna happen but why so many a year? We have to reduce these numbers and they can be reduced in many ways if we just find ways to be smart, yield, and hold people accountable on the roads. These numbers could go down in a heartbeat. So use drivers education be taught so later you can be the one to teach.
