Drivers ed is so important currently. It’s hard to say, but
people around my age range are reckless drivers, and I feel like if
they were to know more about the harmful ways of driving
irresponsibly, they would be more cautious. Disregarding the youth,
it is equally important for adults and everyone else alike to
practice good driving skills. I have encountered many adults that
still text and drive and it is not safe for them or for other
drivers.

The steps we can
take to prevent vehicular accidents is to make sure that schools
affectively teach the dangers of being distracted while driving and
making sure that they show the statistics. I believe that these
statistics are important because they show real world examples and
facts. For the adults, we should show them that there are real
consequences to driving while texting or distracted. We need to show
people that these bad things CAN happen. It can happen to someone
close to you, someone you knew, or even you.

The
friends that I made during high school should understand how bad it
is to text or be distracted while driving. In our 10th grade year,
there were four students that skipped school, got in a car, and drove
down the street. They ended up getting into a severe accident because
the driver was distracted and ran a red light. Three out of four of
the people in that car passed away. I keep that in mind while in a
car and my friends do too. It's a painful example to use to encourage
someone to not text while driving, but it is unfortunately the harsh
reality that we live in and I would rather tell this story as an
example rather than see my friends become an example.

Using
the logic “It won’t happen to me.” is seriously flawed. This
type of thinking can end up getting people around you hurt or you
hurt. We should always be aware of what we are doing and aware that
life doesn’t have favorites.
