Driving can be one of the most dangerous things someone can do. That is why every time you drive it should be done responsibly. When it comes to being educated whilst driving, many people do not take it as seriously as it needs to be. Education in driving should begin even before someone gets behind the wheel. People need to be educated drivers, take steps towards reducing deaths when driving, and bring an urgency to bring higher education to drivers today.
Driver education is by far one of the most important steps when it comes to reducing the amount of risk, and death with driving. Drivers start their education after 14 and 9 months with drivers education. Drivers education is 2 part class that is used to teach people the basics of driving before they get their license. This beforehand training reduces the risk and amount of injury that happens on the road dramatically. For people to learn driver's etiquette, on-road rules, and the basics of controlling a car, before they get an opportunity to take a test dramatically reduces risk. Being an educated driver is the largest aspect of safe driving. Making sure you take pre-license learning seriously and keep yourself and others safe. It is arguably one of the most important parts of your driving life.
There are also many different ways that risk on the road can be reduced One of the largest risk factors of driving is distractions. May cars nowadays make it easier than ever to get distracted while driving. Cars infotainment centers are one of the most distracting things in a car. When drivers are distracted while driving it increases their risk dramatically. Every 1 in 2 crashes in the world are caused by distracted drivers. Drivers take distraction risks by bringing others into the car as well. Many teenagers ignore the law of having only 1 other person in their car at a time until a certain age. Ignoring this law can increase your chance of a crash by 33% per extra person in the car. Having these large increases in distraction as a young driver can be one of the largest risk factors there is when it comes to life. Besides other friends being in the car, teens are more involved in technology than ever. Using a phone while driving is the cause of 1 and 4 crashes around the world. Texting someone while driving is the equivalent of driving with your eyes closed. Most people would even try to drive with their eyes on clothes but have no issues with driving on their phones. Many steps can be taken to reduce risk while driving. Making sure that distractions are limited while driving is the easiest way to end crashes. Making sure you stay off your phone and limit distractions while driving reduces cras opportunities by over 300%.
Car crashes have been a significant aspect of my life since a young age. Both my grandparents have been in a near-fatal crash. I have been in a near-fatal car crash as well with my family. Being surrounded by car safety issues my entire life has caused me to be motivated to keep others safe. Car crashes happen every day and are one of the highest death rates in teens. There are many different ways for road deaths to be not reduced but brought to zero.
Many different steps can be taken to reduce the amount of risk, and deaths in teen driving. Many new laws throughout the years have come into play to limit risk in driving. One of the most recent laws was the hands-free law. The hands-free law makes it so it is a ticketable offense to be driving with a handheld device in your hand. Many different laws similar to this can be created to make sure driving is safer. One step that can be taken is lengthening pre-license education. Adding another segment to the driver's training that has a focus on driving can be very beneficial. Spending time driving with a licensed instructor can be a step taken to make driving safer. Another step that can be taken, is creating laws similar to the hands-free, that limit distracted driving. Making distractions limited when driving will decrease many risks when driving. Distractions are a leading cause of driving accidents. Taking steps towards minimizing the amount of distractions, and the intensity of distraction is monumental to change. Another step is the amount of enforcement of distraction laws. If drivers are held accountable for not following passenger laws, curfew laws, or hand-held laws, it could help take steps towards safer roads.
Driving is overall a dangerous activity. Although there are many deaths, there are also many ways that our roads can become safer for everyone. People can take responsibility and take action to create safer roads for everyone.
