Steps must be taken to create a culture of accountability and awareness. Strengthening DUI enforcement, for example, is one effective strategy. Drunk driving remains a leading cause of traffic fatalities, and I am proud of the work I’ve done to reduce these incidents in West Virginia. Public awareness campaigns, combined with strict enforcement, can deter individuals from making dangerous choices. Similarly, implementing better infrastructure, such as improved lighting, clearer road signs, and traffic-calming measures, can help reduce accidents in high-risk areas.
