The
dangers of driving


When
someone thinks of driving they don’t think of all of the dangers
that could happen due to the recklessness of trying to act cool in
front of their friends. Or when adults feel like they have mastered
the skill of driving so they feel like they can multitask. For
example, texting, talking on the phone, drunk/high or look for
something on the bottom of the sit. In the most recent study by
“Timothy J Ryan & Associated” in OC county, there were 845
involved pedestrians, 1,007 were motorcycle-related, and 3,542 were
alcohol or drug-related. The importance of drivers ed should be
taken more serious to reduce the number of deaths as a result of
driving. For example, when the person is going to be given their
license, they should be required to take classes about the dangers
and the steps to be a safe driver.

The
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving are: first take at least 3 classes about all of the laws and
signs that the person should know when they start to drive. The
second is to have a licensed driver show them how to drive in a safe
and far away from pedestrians that can get hurt. The third is to
learn what they can do when they are involved in an accident. The
fourth and last step is to get their license, with only 2 mistaken
when given the driving test and 4 on the written test.

It
was October 20, in the middle of the night, when this teenage drunk
driver and his friends going 50 mph on a 15 mph street going straight
into my family’s living room; destroying my cousin’s truck into
two parts. I clearly remember waking up to the sound of metal pots
hitting the floor. I then hear my parents screaming my older
brother's name because of the day before he fell asleep in the living
room due to the excitement that he was going to have his birthday
party the next day. My parents couldn’t find him due to all of the
mess that the car did and when they did he was on the bottom of one
of the wheels, screaming for my parents. Before my dad could get to
the driver, he and his friends had already run away from the scene.
The police said that this accident could have been worse if it was
not for the truck of my cousin that was parked in front of the house.
That truck somewhat stopped the car’s impact from going to my
cousin's room and potential injuring them too.

The
steps that I can take to be a better and safer driver as well as help
others become safer on the road is by going to meetings about how to
be safe on the road, which then I could repay them by educating
others to do the same thing.
