Drivers Education is important because it helps anybody who is able to drive learn. Learning the basic tools to drive is important to know how to drive along with what not to do while driving. Other tools include knowing which lanes to use for exits, learning as much as possible about the car about to be driven, not stopping in roundabouts or driving circles, and not passing other vehicles. Drivers Education should also help with identifying and avoiding dangerous events. The courses should also teach how to be safe and responsible on the road. For example knowing traffic laws like knowing the speed limit especially around communities and schools, how to operate a car, and confidence. Some states require new or teen drivers to take a course. Insurance companies might give discounts for taking Drivers Education courses. Drivers Education classes are very important to take if anybody wants to be able to drive.
Some steps that can be taken to reduce deaths while driving is showing what can happen when not paying attention or drinking and driving. Showing examples help people pay attention because they would then realize an accident could happen because of them. A way to show a big audience is by posting to social media while not driving. Showing people who knew someone that died by not paying attention or a person who got injured not paying attention will show others to be careful on the road. Construction workers and civil engineers can also help with building and designing more lighted intersections while also adding more stop signs. For teenage or new drivers, limiting passengers and getting as much supervised driving time as possible can help reduce the risk. There are many more steps to reduce the risk of death from crashes; these are just a few.
When I was in sixth grade I was in a car accident. I will never be able to drive because of my vision. My O&M (orientation and mobility) teacher was driving us back to middle school. We were passing the entrance or exit of a Kroger and someone went to turn and hit us. I was looking out the window when I realized we were going to get into an accident. I screamed and looked away. We weren’t going very fast but my glasses flew off, the airbags deployed, and it smelled bad. We got out of the car and the other driver got out also. We all went to the curb. I am very glad I was wearing my seatbelt. For almost a month I was scared to get into cars. Now I only get scared when my dad scares my mom while he drives. This was a while ago.
Some steps I can take to help others stay safe on the road are to remind them to look at the road, do not drink and drive and remind them to put their seatbelts on. They could also take a driving course and I could remind them to maintain their car to keep them and others safe. Nobody wants to get in a wreck because of the brakes not working. Adjusting mirrors and keeping a safe distance from the car in front is important to stay safe, especially near giant semi trucks. Relying on other drivers is like thinking they know what other drivers might do when it can be dangerous. I can tell the driver to not anticipate when others are going to start moving or turning. Communicating with other drivers by turn signals and other lights can be helpful to prevent crashes so I can hopefully remind the driver to communicate. Driving erratically can cause fines or even the license being suspended. Accidents can also cause lost workdays and car damage. These are some steps of what I would do to help keep others and myself safe even though I cannot drive.
Not paying attention when driving keeps us from getting to our favorite places, spending time with friends and family, and doing our favorite hobbies. Having Drivers Ed helps anybody who is able to drive stay on the road. Not paying attention can cause an accident and not be able to get to the correct location after and would need a ride back. Give all the attention to the road so accidents do not happen as much. A person who dies in a car crash is probably a family member, best friend of someone, client or owner of a business, and more. Pay attention to the car and road.
