The importance of a driver's education is extremely important. Every driver needs to understand the rules of the road to prevent accidents from occuring and to save the lives of others who could be victims of uneducated drivers. When a person goes through driver's education and fully is knowledgeable of all the rules and regulations it prevents people from reckless driving. At least 250,000 accidents with injuries occur each year in California and approximately over 3,700 people die from car accidents in California alone each year. Every single one of these people have a family. Every single one of them had their own lives and impact on another’s life. Friends, family, kids, and loved ones lose their important person due to the lack of knowledge for driving safely. The leading cause for these car accidents is Distracted Driving. The rules of the road are to remain focused and not use cellular devices while driving. Anyone with a driver's education will know this like the back of their hand. It is constantly mentioned and it is obvious why because every single driver is distracted. Is the life of a person, the sadness you cause to the loved ones just to send that one text. Especially with the society now after covid causing people to really be addicted to their phones. Most of the community can’t last 1 minute without checking their phone or scrolling through social media. I see it everyday on my way to school. At least 10 people on my 15 minute drive to school are driving while looking down at their phones. What is worse is that they even do this in a school zone for a kindergarten-5th grade school zone. People need to learn the importance of being a focused driver. They are willing to watch one more Tik Tok for the life of a kid. These young kids have such a bright future and loving parents. Although, I have seen and heard before that they get their life cut short because of a incompetent driver not noticing the light is red while the students cross. This not only affects the family of the victim but ruins the driver's life as well. You destroy your own life from not following the rules and regulations which could easily be prevented by going through driver’s education. Let’s say a young driver just obtained a driver's license at the age of 17 and has excellent grades, looking for these big colleges such as Yale to get accepted into. They are ready to create themselves into let’s say a pediatrician to take care of kids and help as much as they can. They decide to go driving to school themselves because they are confident in their driving skills. Everything is going smoothly but they get a text from their parents so they decide to check it forgetting about his driving education rules. All it takes is 3 seconds and he crashes into a pedestrian walking because he didn’t see him while being distracted. Their whole future is destroyed with a murder charge for the accidental death caused by just a single text. Knowledge and accountability is more important than anything while driving. I myself have had an experience of being in a car accident. I was going to church with my mother in Escondido. We were going to enter the freeway through an intersection. I was reading my harry potter book in the back seat. The light turned green for us and my mother started driving through but then we got hit hard from the right side sending us into a roll. We were stopped by the freeway barriers upside down. I was so confused, shocked, scared, and sad I didn’t even get to see it happen. It all was so quick. I was half conscious wondering if my mom was okay. I started crying for her. She is bleeding from her head but still telling me it is okay. I heard the police sirens and started getting pulled out by some officers next my mom getting pulled out. I looked at the car and the whole passenger seat was crushed into the car, the seat I was going to sit in but my mom didn’t let me. I was full of fear that if I did sit in the passenger seat I wouldn’t be writing this essay. I wouldn't be able to create my future and be able to follow my dreams. All because this truck driver was looking at his phone not noticing that he had just ran a red light. Being a responsible driver is such an important trait. Some steps that could be taken to be a responsible driver is to remove all distractions. Such as phones are the main distraction for every driver. As Well as being aware of your surroundings, always be able to react and prevent anything from occurring. Finally, the most important is to just follow the rules, they are rules for a reason to protect us and be there for the safety of others.
