Importance of Safe Driving
Being
able to drive a car and get to places quickly is important, but
making sure our new drivers and even current drivers understand the
safety and rules of driving is more important. In today's society,
drivers are more distracted and more accidents are reported every
day. No driver is safe from being in an accident, not even someone
who may have been driving their whole life. So why is it that so
many people every day get into accidents, and what can we do to start
educating people more on the safety? To start, schools need to start
teaching drivers at a young age about safety.
Most
schools already have a Drivers Education class and this is great,
but not every school has this class due to budget or just not enough
teachers around. For the schools that do have these classes,
teaching them from the start about safe driving is crucial. Most
schools do a good job of teaching the next generation on how to be a
safe driver, but what do we do about the schools who do not have
these classes? Start by raising awareness and showing statistics on
how these classes will benefit the students and pushing for the
budget can save many lives in the future. Having these classes will
educate and reduce accidents with the next generation.
Another
bigger issue to focus on is texting and driving. Everyone knows it
is distracting and causes many accidents, so why do drivers keep
doing it? Today's world, everyone grew up with technology in their
fingertips. This society is addicted to their phones, and other
devices. It has even come to a point to where cars are putting
basically phones as part of the console. Is it helpful? Yes, to be
hands free is better than looking at your phone to text and not pay
attention to what is in front of you. Even with this benefit texting
and driving is still a big issue. As society grows more mature, more
and more car companies have been taking this issue and trying to
solve it. People may notice that the more technology advance the
cars get, the more sensors that are added. There are even some cars
that will let you know when you take your eyes off the road, which is
a big help.
That
is just one of many safety hazards to be taken into consideration.
People can speed, drink and drive, not be educated on driving, and
even more. In theory, as said before, no one is safe from an
accident. Making sure people around you are educated on the safety
can be the difference between life and death. When a family or
friend is texting and driving or saying they know how to drive drunk,
make sure they know the dangers of these safety hazards. Even the
basic driving rules, some people are just not educated about it. So
start spreading the importance of safe driving.
