The Importance of Safe Driving
Being safe on the road is not an easy task to achieve at first. Whether you are a new driver, and older driver, or just someone who dislikes driving in general, understanding the ropes of the road can be an immense difficulty. For that reason, all drivers, when first learning to drive, should have to learn from a specific driver’s school. These professionals will be better capable to teach new drivers the ins and outs of how to operate a car and ultimately be safe. If people were better educated in road obstacles (when to look out for deer, other stray drivers, and construction, etc.) and the danger of using a phone while operating a vehicle, many lives would have not been lost. If more PSA’s were present on US television pertaining to the dangers of the events listed above, then it is possible more Americans would be shocked into understanding that driving is nothing to fool around about. It is my personal understanding that in Europe and some major US cities, fast-acting photography technology is starting to take off. These laser guns or “Blitzgeraete” (in Germany) can take split-second snapshots of the license plates on cars. Rather than promote speeding by cops chasing after the criminal, these devices can use the picture of the license plate to issue a fine to said person. I have been driving for about three years now and have never been a victim of or the cause of a car accident, on my own. I remember a few times when I was younger being in a couple small fender benders with other people, but it was never anything severe enough to cause injury. I have seen people close to me being irresponsible drivers, so most of the time I try to drive to avoid danger. Even the small things like wearing a seatbelt can prove to be incredibly important when it comes down to it. To be a safer driver, I feel everyone, along with myself, can always choose to slow down a little and double check (or triple check) all mirrors before completing a turn or general movement. As I mentioned before, wearing a seatbelt is always vital and should always be remembered, after all, in most states it is a law to wear a seatbelt.
