The Saving Impact of Driver’s Education – Matthew Cermak

The importance of driver’s education cannot be understated. Far too many people die as a result of driving accidents. Most of these accidents can be avoided by requiring continued driver’s education. If they were to be mandatory classes every year to update every driver, the amount of accidents would be reduced greatly. I have actually been in a very serious accident with my sister and mother. As I was driving the both of them over to the grocery store, we approached a 4-way stop. As it was my turn to proceed, a car came from my left side, full speed, almost ramming into the driver’s side of my car. I was able to stop just on time before the car would hit mine. Luckily, neither my family nor I would be injured, as we just barely escaped a fateful accident. But this possible accident could have been avoided had the other driver not been looking at his phone. The lives of my family could have been in danger, but this driver was more concerned with what was going on with his phone. From that point on, I have done my part to ensure everyone’s safety on the road.
Again, if every driver were to have to attend yearly driver’s education courses, accidents like the one I was almost in could be avoided. Driving is a responsibility given to every driver that hits the road; driving is not a privilege. If a yearly course can prevent the high number of driving deaths that currently prevails, it will be well worth it. Personally, I be sure to turn off my phone every time I drive. Other simple steps like driving the speed limit and maintaining a high level of awareness go a long way in ensuring my, and everyone else’s safety. If every driver could take these simple steps to ensure their well-being, the number of deaths will easily reduce. Everyone doing their part will make the roads a safer place. Literally anything that can be done to reduce the high number of deaths needs to be instituted. Why not constant updates on driver’s education?
