Growing
up, I loved road trips. What was not to love? I got to see the sun
come up in morning, and how amazing it looked shining through the
morning fog. I got to drive past bodies of water, and huge plots of
land. And the best part was the music, because I love to sing in the
car. However, now that I am older, I have a deeper appreciation for
road trips, or more specifically, the fact that I have been on so
many road trips, and made it back safely is something I am forever
grateful for. Unfortunately, I know the same cannot be said for
others, and therefore I believe that people should take driver
education classes.

While
the big takeaway for drivers ed is obviously learning how
to drive, it taught me to drive safely. This is why it is important
that drivers ed become more enforced in teenagers, so as to
prevent the spur of emotions while we are on the road, considering
how unpredictable it is.

To
prevent deaths related to driving, I believe that there should be a
driving ethics test of some sort. Similar to the permit test, but
more along the lines of understanding to be considerate of the fact
that when you get behind the wheel, you do have the possibility to
take a life by being reckless, and you will not abuse that privilege.
I
have been in a car accident before, and to prevent myself from
causing an accident, I make sure that when I get in the car, I put on
my seat belt, make sure that all my mirrors are angled correct, and I
make sure that my phone is showing the symbol of “I am driving”
and, I ensure that all my windows are reflecting the road as well as
they can, and I wear my glasses, so that I am aware of everything
before me, and can evaluate it to the best of my abilities. I avoid
destructive driving by putting my phone away.
