So
for this essay, I wanted to answer two of the questions because I
feel as though they go hand to hand. The questions I chose to answer
was: What is the importance of drivers ed in reducing the
number of deaths as a result of driving? And What steps can be taken
to reduce the number of deaths related to driving?
Driver
education is so important to reducing deaths and I can’t stress
this enough. Knowing the rules and regulations keeps not only you
safe but others. Knowing how to protect yourself as well is very
important. Teen has the highest rate for deaths relating to driving.
To avoid this everyone including adults should take courses on
driving and the rules/regulations at least once every 6 months. No
one should have to lose someone due to a careless driver. It is not
easy to explain to a family that you weren’t paying attention and
now their loved one is dead. I know that may sound harsh but it is
reality. Being knowledgeable in this topic will make you more
confident about driving as well as how to properly avoid accidents(if
possible). Some steps that could be taken to avoid an accident is:

Check
to see if you are mentally capable to drive yourself or someone
else?

Check
to see if you are physically able to drive you or someone else?

Check
to see if all your car parts are up to date and working?

Check
to see if you are wearing a seat belt as well as all your
passengers?

Check
to see if you hear and see clearly when driving?
Thes
questions I like to call the 5 Checks. If you can’t confidently
answer these questions with as yes, then you do not need to be
driving. If it is an emergency call someone that can assist you.
Even if it’s down the street, a lot can happen and you don’t
want to have any bad karma on your chest because you decided not to
complete the 5 Checks list. Be safe, Think of others, and Be patient.
