When driving and come across a wreck, a typcial person would stop and stare, and wonder “I woinder what happened to them?” A person would also pray that all is well. When you sit down and look at the statistics 94% accidents come from human error. This can include texting and driving, being distracted, speeding, tailgating, and intoxicated while driving.
Driver education is important to embed in a young persons mind. You hear about texting and driving as your growing up and are always warned about it. Schools also offer a driver education class that lets you drive on the road with instructors, lessons on driving, and even how to change a tire. Being taught on how important it is to arrive alive can dramatically change a teenagers mind on how safe they want to drive. Reminding them to “Drive safe, someone loves you,” really leaves a lasting impression on a teenagers mind. A teenager has so many people in their lives who love them and want them to succeed in life. If this person would to get into a life threatening accident, it would leave a lasting impact to the people who were close to this person. When reminded that saying in not only encourages a teenager to drive safe, but to remind them how many people around them love that person. This love and support can further on increase body positivity, and the incitive to do well in school.
There are many ways to reduce the number of deaths to driving. The number one way is to put the phone down. Texting and driving is one of the leading causes of accidents. In todays time there should be no reason why drivers should be on their phones because many cars are high tech and offers many things. This can include maps/directions, phonecalls, texting, and music. Phones also have a setting where there is a “driving mode’ which shuts off everything to get on the phone, unless there is an emergency. Another way to reduce driving distractions is to not drink and drive. There are many ways to avoid drunk driving. A group should have a designated driver who will not be getting intoxicated, this person also helps and makes sure their group is safe. If a group would not have a designated driver there are many driving services that can make sure that a group of people can get home safely. Speeding is also a main cause of accidents. Being aware of how fast a person is going on the road is another main focus of driving. This is also one of the main topics that a student learns in a driver education class.
I personally have never gotten into an accident because I follow all of my driving safety rules, but one of my close friends has gotten into a severe accident. She was also driving all of the safety rules, but the person who intiated the crash was not. My friend was driing throuh Atlanta in the midst of the traffic hour. While going home a car come up from beind, hit her car, flug it up in the car, and rolled five times before stopping. The woman who hit her was in a rental car, speeding, and on her phone. The person did not stop and kept driving. My friend is fine physically, but emotionally she is still trying to get over this accident. She still has to drive up to and from Atlanta daily, and she still finds the drive hard and scary because what has happened to her. She is more alert than she already was, and promotes driving safety to her friends and family.
There are many ways I can be an advocate for safe driving amongst my family and friends. The first way is to remind them that so many people love and care about them. I want them to achieve their dreams, get a good education, and so much more. Remind them just that one simple thing can help them get through their drive and their day. Another way I can promote safe driving is to not text or call them when I know they are in a drive. Seeing notifications can increase the chance of that person getting on their phone, and increase their risk of getting into an accident. I can also not talk about bad driving. When peers talk about their driving to one another it stimulates them to drive like them because they think its “cool.” This can include speeding and running through stop signs and red lights.
In conclusion, driver education is one of the most important reminders to embed in a persons mind. Reminding them to drive safe because someone cares for them and loves them will promote safe driving. Being educated on this topic will reduce the causes of crashes and help people arrive alive.
