Driving habits, making good choices for driving safely
There is a great importance in drivers ed which is also tied to reducing the number of deaths that are caused by driving. The importance comes from the fact that a great number of deaths are caused from car accidents. To reduce this, it is smart for new drivers to be more educated on every possibility of any event that may occur while driving, especially in today's distracted world. Driving today can be extremely dangerous. The proof is in the numbers, for example “ In America, an average of 34,000 people die each year as a result of driving. This is more people who have died in one year as a result of driving, than the total number of American soldiers who have died from war in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. “ that is a lot of people to die in one year due to car accidents. People need to start paying more attention to their surroundings outside the car and the road rather than to pay attention to whatever may be distracting them. For teenagers and new drivers a big distraction is our phones now although there are cautions put in place that can help make phones less distracting, we have to manually set them up to work before driving and most teenagers are so connected with their phones they don't want to miss out on anything that may come up.
One way to possibly be taken to prevent a greater number of future deaths caused by driving, could be simply getting the word out there where teenagers and new drivers will have to see and hear it so they now the importance of being careful and safe on the road while driving.
Let more student drivers and teenagers that are driving know they should start using the settings on their phones to make it a safer environment for them to drive in.
Thankfully I have never been in a really serious or dangerous car accident. I've been in minor car accidents with my parents or a friend but it was never like a serious head on or two car accident. There are a few incidents that I remember hitting a deer and damaging the car a little bit. I live in upstate New York so it's not uncommon for people to hit a deer once in their lives while driving. Although I have unfortunately witnessed some bad driving habits of my friends. Whether it be distracted driving because of music and changing stations especially when they use bluetooth and hook it up to their phones or actually using the phone. When I see that I try to tell them to wait until we stop or to pull over.
