Driving scholarship

Driver education is very important because it will teach the new drivers of the road to drive safely and don’t make dumb decisions behind the wheel of a 1,500-3,000-pound vehicle. I think experience drivers should talk to the new drivers about the rules for driving like the do’s and don’ts for when they are behind the wheel, they should have some simulations of people that made bad decisions while driving in the vehicle, and having people be part of SADD so that they know of things that has happened to other people that were hurt by people that made a bad decision while driving. I have never been in a car accident or my family members driving irresponsibly, they have always made sure they are doing the right thing along with me as well when we are behind the wheel of our vehicles. I have seen car accidents that we were all not involved in that created a lot of damage that either the people were safe or the ambulance was called to the scene that made other people thing that someone was hurt or killed in the accident. I have seen some of my friends driving irresponsibly and I have commented on them doing it, but they have always not listened to my requests on changing their behaviors. I am always a safe driver when I am behind the wheel of my vehicle and I will continue to follow the rules because I have 4 years of SADD under my belt and have seen people that were affected by people that made bad decisions while behind the wheel of a vehicle by distracted driving, drinking and driving, and being a road demon by pushing the speed limit. If I meet a new person that has their driving permit, I will advise them on the rules of driving and some of the things that they will have to deal with when they get their drivers license. It hurts me the most when young teens are getting themselves hurt by making bad decisions while driving, they still have a long life ahead of them that they have to live for while growing up. Many of their families are hurting when they are killed by reckless driving, they will never be replaced and the only thing that people will remind other people to drive safe is the cross that will be left behind on the side of the road. I have many stories from my resource teacher that was part of the EMS and my father who was part of the fire department that got to see a lot of scenarios that were extremely bad to the publics eye that nobody should see, but the images of these scenes are stilled burned to the back of their minds. A lot of things need to be done so that we can make sure that the new drivers will be safe when they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the scholarship.
