For
new drivers, being able to completely understand the serious
consequences of their actions on the road can give them some insight
on how they should act when they finally do get on the road. Driver
education and driving time are very important because it allows new
drivers to be able to be mindful of the obstacles and situations they
could be placed in at anytime while on the road. The more experience
the new driver has, the more they will feel comfortable behind the
wheel, and learn to be aware of themselves rather than the people
around them.

In
seeing as how this generation has grown and have become more
attracted to the new technology of this age, the first step would be
to make kids come first hand with the consequences of using their
phones while driving. Almost everyone on the road nowadays has their
phones and creates accidents, traffic jams, and bad driving habits.
And yes, the course does make teens have a pledge to not text and
drive, but statistically, students skip that part and won’t take it
as seriously as they should. Enforcing the “no texting while
driving” rule to not only teens, but adults as well, would be the
best first step in creating a much safer driving environment.

My
mother is a very cautious person and a good driver, so in learning
from her, I haven’t gotten into any accidents (and hopefully don’t
at all). But I have been unfortunate enough to be in the seat of
friends that have been in accidents, or are just not responsible
drivers. Many of my friends say that their accidents have been caused
by people who were not paying attention to the road or were using
their phone while driving.

The
method I use best is just simply putting my phone into “Do Not
Disturb” and being aware of my own driving. My mother always says
that I am only responsible for myself, and not the others around me,
so I make sure that I am being responsible of where I go, and how I
am on the road.
