Safe and educated driving

Being a safe and educated driver is one of the biggest responsibilities that you will have as you get older in life, and it requires lots of attention, responsibility, and knowledge of the rules/road. Doing all of this ensures that you are protecting yourself, other drivers, pedestrians, and your passengers when you drive safely with proper education. Safety matters a lot when driving as one small second can change your life forever whether it may be using your phone or getting distracted on the road, it can seriously lead to a dangerous accident that can affect many people around you. Safe driving can reduce the risk of things happening like loss of a vehicle, financial loss and less risk of injury happening and safe driving also always helps you with staying alert while driving, being aware of your surroundings, and being prepared for unexpected situations. The education part of being an educated driver teaches you many things like, for one example, the rules of the road and traffic laws you’ll encounter, which are essential for legal and safe driving like stopping at stop lights, yielding when necessary to other cars, and staying under the speed limit. Another one is avoiding distractions while driving which include phone usage, loud music in the car, and side conversations with passengers in which there are many ways to avoid these types of distractions. A good way to avoid these is putting your phone on Do Not Disturb, that way you will be less tempted to use your phone and you won’t be getting many notifications at once when driving, another one is having your music at a lower volume to avoid the loudness inside the car while driving.  Another thing that driving teaches you is learning how to control your emotions while driving as anger and frustration can lead to more aggressive driving which then puts the people around you at more risk than before. One thing that I believe with safe driving is caring for others around you as being an unsafe and uneducated driver not only again puts you at risk but so many other innocent lives around you and one single bad decision can have a lasting impact and consequences so drivers must remember that their actions matter and must think beyond themselves when driving. Another way that you can be a safe driver is knowing not when to drive like driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, impaired driving, and driving while tired as these things can cause you to not be focused while driving and can have really bad outcomes if these things are happening while driving. Another thing about being a safe and educated driver is that it reflects a lot on your personal character, for example patient and respectful character, like allowing others to merge or stopping for pedestrians to cross, these things can create a safer and more positive environment while driving. A good thing to think about with being a safe and educated driver is, driving education isn’t only for new drivers, it’s for anyone learning to drive for the first time on their own or trying to just refresh their skills as it helps build confidence, improve decision-making and helps you ensure you are prepared for real-world driving challenges. Something that I would like to add to being a safe and educated driver is safe driving is an important way to show respect for the people who care about us in our lives. Those people who care and trust us expect us to return home safely every time and trust us to make responsible decisions while driving. So, remembering this gives us another reason not to make irresponsible decisions while driving like speeding, impaired driving, or taking those unnecessary chances as nothing is worth risking someone’s future. A good way that safe and educated driving has been able to improve over the years is the improvement and more use of technology while driving things like backup cameras, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency breaking. This technology here has been able to assist drivers and keep them safer. Every driver that you see while driving or just walking on the street has the ability to make the roads safer with the thoughtful decisions they make and continuous learning as there is always something new to learn about with driving and the responsibility to protect and care for others around us never ends. Staying focused, obeying laws, and caring for others ensures that everyone is able to make it home safely with no fear on the roads.
