For one to enjoy the ride - he must know the rules, right?

I think that completing education at a driving school is the number one factor in increasing safety on the roads. We live in a world with tens of millions of cars driving on the roads in the cities. I live in New York City, and I personally was taking driving classes. While I was sitting in the driver’s seat and looking at the side windows for pedestrians or bikers simultaneously, I realized that it is so chaotic on the streets in New York. It would take less than 15 seconds for a horrible accident to happen if you do the wrong action or become less attentive to the environment around you.

Every driver should have the safety of pedestrians, bikers, buses, and other fellow cars on the priority list as number one. The more people know the rules, the fewer accidents will happen. The preventative manner is always: paying close attention to the street, staying focused, calm, and kind to other drivers. 

It is also crucial to consider that sometimes we can be busy. Like being late for the morning meeting at work; trying to get to the kindergarten as fast as possible to pick up the child; or wanting to get on time on our best friend’s Birthday. Still, it’s not worth going over the speed limit that’s allowed in the specific area. Regardless of how important the event you are attending might be. To prevent being late, drivers should consider setting an alarm early and add an additional 15-30 minutes to the drive in case there is going to be a long traffic jam on the road. By planning your time accordingly person will keep yourself and other drivers safe and on time.

In my opinion, another way to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, people to renew their skills by completing an online course or in-person lectures every single year. Regardless of how many years or decades the driver has experience controlling the vehicle. The nature of the human brain is that it tends to forget even the smallest details, like double-checking the speed or looking at the side mirror, for instance. 

Secondly, we should focus more on safety rather than speed and showing off how cool one’s car is and how much horse power does it has. Although having a brand-new expensive vehicle like that famous rapper has may satisfy one’s ego, it’s very important to be mindful of others and pay close attention to the road during the whole ride. 

Personally, I had an experience of driving with my parents where, in my opinion, my Dad was driving quite irresponsibly. When I was 10 years old, we had a family trip to Switzerland with my parents. We rented a car from an agency and were visiting many small towns in the country. I remember how we were riding uphill in the mountains to get to the observation parking lot at the National Park in Switzerland. It was very foggy; you could barely see more than 2 meters away from you. Plus, the roads were extremely narrow. Only one and a half cars would fit on this small road. My dad was driving quite fast, and I was so scared that I had a fear that we were going to fall off the cliff. Despite mine and my moms inquiries for the dad to drive more slower and be more careful, my father ignored us for some reason. Thank God we arrived safely to the observation parking lot.

To be a better driver, I will make a habit of watching safety rules on the road every year to remind myself of how to drive correctly. As well as I recommend others not to look on the phone or texting, doesn’t matter how urgent the situation is. In that case, people can hurt themselves and other drivers. That might be followed not only by injuries, but by deaths and expensive lawsuits. Many people are fans of singing in the car, drinking alcohol, and dancing. Despite how fun it might be, the driver should always be sober. Drinking alcohol in any quantity may lead to falling asleep on the road or blurred vision and attention (i.e., driving too fast or not seeing other cars around you).

To conclude, having a car and driving can bring a lot of joy and make life easier. But in order to have fun when driving, everyone should be considerate of others and know the rules like the number of your fingers.
