Shattered dreams
Nowadays, Teenagers are
influenced by not only technology but by their friend’s constant
peer pressure. Fitting in and aiming to be “cool” can lead to
reckless behavior and worst case death.
Drivers
education can help prevent the number of deaths by emphasizing the
importance in practicing safe driving skills that can help avoid an
accident in the future. Not only that but can show the negative
consequences when you don’t follow the safety guidelines. To reduce
the number of deaths relating to driving we should expose people to
the outcomes of reckless driving to make them think twice of their
actions. People always think it can never happen to them but in
reality it can. By showing real life examples of people who lost
their lives or were injured due to their negligence we can spark a
realization of the true danger of reckless behavior behind the wheel.
As teenagers we are faced with
immense peer pressure which can affect our driving. Being on the
phone, to speeding, to driving under the influence. This topic is
quite personal because our school was impacted by this last summer.
Two classmates of mine that I knew since elementary died in a
horrific car accident due to reckless behavior. In a couple of weeks,
it will mark one year of their accident. They had dreams and we were
just about to start our Junior year but sadly that never happen.
Those dreams were shattered and we cannot let that happen again. I
hope nobody ever has to experience that. Especially at such a young
age their deaths should not go unnoticed. I hope that this motivate
people in thinking twice of their actions. Even if you think it
couldn’t happen to you it could happen to someone you love or know.
Spreading awareness and educating people will prevent more deaths
from happening. After the incident people were more cautious thinking
twice of what they do. We shouldn’t have to wait for a traumatic
experience to happen to make change.
Steps
that I have taken to prevent this is never being on my phone when I’m
driving, that text can wait. Avoiding driving far distances at night
why put myself at risk for an accident. Overall always thinking twice
on how my driving action can affect me and someone else.
