Every
time before I get in my car to go anywhere I hear the same phrase
from my parents, “I love you, be safe.” It has become a regimen
that I have learned is much more real than it shows at surface value.
After you hear the same words being said to you over and over it is
easy to just brush it off like it doesn’t mean much anymore, but
these words need to be heard around the world. Teens take driving way
to nonchalant and think that they are invincible on the road. They
believe that if they are a good driver than they will never get in an
accident, which is honestly ridiculous. Drivers need to be aware of
what they are doing on the road, but also what everyone else is doing
on the road. The key to safe driving isn’t just driving safe
yourself, it is to be able to know how to avoid bad situations with
other drivers on the road. Accidents are unpredictable and can happen
to anyone, no one is invincible.

Many
accidents happen because people are distracted while they drive.
Almost everyone can admit that they have texted or changed the music
while driving. Phone usage in the car is a major reason as to why so
many accidents occur and lead to fatalities. Drivers need to realize
that using your phone while driving is extremely dangerous and can
cause accidents. 1 of every 4 accidents in the United States are
caused by texting and driving. This absurd number needs to decrease,
and it is very easy to do so. Drivers just have learned that the text
can wait, it is not worth getting in an accident or even dying over.
I believe that there is nothing the government or the police can do
about it, it is all in the hands of the people. People have to
realize that what they are doing is dangerous and could really affect
other people in this world. And I am not all innocent either. I am
guilty of texting and driving as so many others are ass well. I have
been really trying to reduce the amount of texting and driving that I
do myself. I understand that it is not easy, however it is a
necessary fix that I need to make to my driving habits. Something
that has worked for me is to turn off all notifications while I am
driving which really helps to reduce the temptation of replying to
people while driving.
