Importance
of Driving Safely
Driving
is one of the many things that kids look forward to as they are
growing up, though it can be fun, it is also a highly dangerous thing
that has killed many people day to day. Kids hate going to drivers ed
because they have to sit there for 2-3 hours listening to someone
read out of a book, though they might hate it, it is very informative
to them on why driving safely is enforced. Drivers ed is
offered for kids that are eager to get their driver’s license as
soon as possible. Throughout the course they learn many things about
the road such as what do all of the signs mean, what lines on the
road means what, and also how to use the gas and brake pedals at the
right times. Students who pay attention throughout the course and
keep the material in their head are the ones that are safe drivers.
Now what does it mean to be a
safe driver? Being a safe driver means to follow all directions, not
to go past the speed limit, and especially to not text and drive.
Having more and more of these individuals that apply their knowledge
to the road will reduce the number of deaths each year because of
safe drivers. Now there are steps that need to be taken to help
reduce the number of deaths related to driving, and that is to follow
all directions when driving, no texting and driving, and also making
sure every passenger in the car has a seatbelt on.
From
experience I have been in situations where I felt unsafe in the car
when someone else is driving, for example, when my sister was a
teenager she use to drive with her knees when she got a text on her
phone so she could reply to the text. This is one of the many
situations I have been where I was nervous if we were going to make
it home safely.
Now
I wanted to give some steps that readers can take to be a safe driver
and also share with other divers to spread the awareness. #1, PUT
AWAY THE PHONES, that is probably the number one thing that kills
people among driving. #2, pay attention to your surroundings at all
times, because we know that others may not be safe drivers. Finally
#3, do not get distracted, focus on driving, don’t worry about the
music, or the food, or even the phone, it all can wait.
