The
impact of being a safe driver
Year to year,
driving is a major concern. As generations to come get their driver’s
license, the more populated the roads become. Driving is seen as a
major advantage but it takes great responsibilities to be behind the
wheel of a car. Due to this responsibility to drive safely, the
importance of drivers ed is to teach those on the roads,
and those just starting to drive the importance of following the
rules while driving. With these educational programs it allows
individuals to be aware how to be cautious while driving. You are
taught proper techniques like watching your surroundings, obeying
speed limits and following the signs of the roads. Through allowing
people to be aware of these basics expectations, its one step closer
to preventing an accident. Awareness is significant, due to the fact
that people don’t realize the issue or concern until they have
hands on experience or knowledge from those of experience. So
drivers ed is an important component as it teaches everyone
the same strategies and rules in which when on the road, they will
all be following the same, appropriate actions. This will result in a
decrease of accidents, or improper driving.
In order to enhance the aspect of safe driving, it’s important to
include the following steps, in order to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving: check your surroundings, be aware of stop signs
and the lights at any intersection, watch for pedestrians, get annual
car checkups, and keep a safe distance while driving. Those listed
are steps in which an individual while driving can use to prevent
accidents. In addition to personal steps, steps that are done
annually through the government could be testing; whether it is an in
car test or a written test, just to ensure that individuals are
keeping up with the standards of the law, and to prevent individuals
from creating bad habits that can be harmful to society.
In relation to this topic of safe driving, I have never had an
experience of my own in a car accident, but I do know family and
friends that have been in a car accident, as well as friends and
family that have driven irresponsibly. When it comes to this idea,
they all have done relatively the same thing, in order to result in
such a thing like an accident. These individuals all failed to obey
the rules of the road and were not being aware of the danger their
driving could cause, as at that moment they were just enjoying the
freedom of driving and trying to have fun. However, this was not
always the case. Some individuals that I know were responsibly
driving, just due to conditions of the road they were not aware of
possible impact the weather could have on the car, changing the way
in which you need to drive at that moment.
Due to all of these components, a way in which I can be a better and
safer driver it to not only be aware of my own actions while driving,
but those of others as well. When it comes to driving, you can be a
great driver and try to be as safe as possible, but you will always
have those people that drive irresponsibly no matter what. In these
cases, it is important for me to be aware of their actions as well.
As if I see an individual whose driving appears to be dangerous, I
should stay away from that individual and give them space while they
are driving. This is due to the fact that if you don’t give that
driver space, and they make one wrong move, not only will they be in
harm’s way, but I will as well. One last step that can always be
done is notifying police. It is important for police to be informed
of any unsafe driving; as if they are aware they can possibly get
involved and create consequences for unlawful driving. Doing this
would not be only for my own safety, but for everyone around me. So
in a way it’s a social responsibility that is an easy step to being
a better and safer driver.
