Driver
education classes are crucial to reducing the number of deaths caused
by driving. By educating and training people about how to be
dependable on the road, a safer environment is created. Driver
education classes teach students how to be the most reliable they can
when driving and how to make themselves aware of and prepare for
dangerous situations so that they can develop intelligent solutions.
These classes also provide students with real-life consequences of
being reckless on the road. The stories show the students that what
they’re learning is real and happens to individuals just like them
every day, making them more likely to listen to and adjust themselves
to what they learn. Drivers ed classes ensure that the next
generation of drivers is prepared to be defensive and secure in their
vehicles.
Many
changes can be made in areas such as law, and car production to
reduce the number of deaths related to driving. For example, if
someone is seen on the phone when driving, instead of points on their
license, a law could force the individual to repeat the entire
process of obtaining a license. Furthermore, if people are willing to
volunteer to teach drivers ed classes, they could be made free
and mandatory for all teenagers looking to get their license. This
would force them to learn how to be safe on the road and prevent
future accidents. Finally, the production of cars with new
technological devices installed could be more strictly regulated.
This would cause fewer distractions to the driver and create a more
secure setting.
While
I’ve never been in a car accident, I’ve seen enough to know that
it’s something I never want to experience. However, I’ve
witnessed my friends driving irresponsibly. From driving over the
speed limit to having a concert in the car with more focus emphasized
on vocals than the road, I’ve seen irresponsibility behind the
wheel numerous times. Knowing that in just a second, my life could
change due to the way someone is driving has changed the way I handle
these cases. I encourage everyone to speak up in hazardous driving
conditions and end them before something irreversible happens.
There
are many steps I can take to making myself a safer driver. For one, I
can put my phone in the backseat while I’m driving. There is never
a reason to be using a device while driving, and by placing it in the
backseat, I’ll ensure that it won’t distract me from the road.
With one less thing drawing my attention away from the road, I’ll
be a safer driver. I can also make sure that the music in the car is
at a low volume. By having the music at a low volume, I’ll always
be able to hear what’s going on around me and will be able to
prepare for things such as emergency vehicles, or an oncoming car
before it’s too late. No one should ever be lost to another’s
carelessness behind the wheel.
